Ginkgo
The Gingko Tree, ‘Ginkgo biloba,’ is the only living gymnosperm, a group that includes pines, firs and spruces, that will shed its leaves in the fall. It is also the sole surviving member of a group of Gymnosperms that flourished 65 million years ago, during the time that dinosaurs existed. They are native to China, Japan and Korea, where they still grow naturally in remote mountainous parts. Gingko trees are also called Maidenhair trees.

Magnolia x Ann
The Ann Magnolia Tree, ‘Magnolia x Ann,’ is the result of crossbreeding that took place at the United States National Arboretum. It will develop a somewhat open habit and produces seven to nine inch, deep purple-red flowers. These lightly scented, large flowers are colored on both sides of the petals and emerge from beautiful, tapered buds. A member of the ‘Little Girl’ series of Magnolias, Ann is a very hardy and vigorous selection. It will form a shrubby mound and has leathery green foliage.

White Persian Lilac
The White Persian Lilac, ‘Syringa x persica alba,’ is a deciduous shrub that has dark green foliage. It produces fragrant, pale lilac flowers in the late spring. The flowers are grown on two to three inch long panicles. This is a graceful, spreading shrub with arching branches that can reach four to eight feet in height with a five to ten foot spread. Introduced in 1614, this reasonably compact lilac bush will grow well in any smaller garden or shrub border.

Tropical Beauty Shell Flower Ginger Lily

BEAUTIFUL SHELL FLOWER GINGER LILY.

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS FOR GINGER: In warmer regions, plant Ginger in light shade, but in northern gardens plant it in full sun. Give it plenty of water. If you grow it in a container in the North, move it into a cool storage area before frost. Let the tops of the plants dry and turn yellow then trim them off. Water it every month just to keep the roots from drying out. In the spring, move it to a sunny, sheltered place to start top growth. Dig the roots with a spading fork just before frost. If you've grown it in a container, dump out the roots or feel for them with your hands. Store them at room temperature. PROPAGATING: Plant pieces of root in a shallow 5 to 10 gallon container of potting soil or sand. After it sprouts and forms a good root system, transplant it to the garden spaced 12 inches apart.
